A Reddit user recently shared a viral post about her mother accidentally baking an iPad in the oven. The post, captioned "My mom accidentally baked her iPad in the oven," quickly garnered over 38,000 votes.
The bizarre post sparked curiosity among Reddit users, with many asking about the incident's details. In response, the woman explained in the comments that the mishap was entirely “unintentional.”
The Reddit user provided insight by sharing a screenshot of a conversation with her mother, where she asked for an explanation of the iPad-baking story.
“It was certainly not intentional. Somehow, while I was cooking, somebody in the kitchen (most likely it was I) placed the broiling pan I was using on top of my iPad. When I lifted the pan to put it in the oven, the iPad must have stuck to the bottom of the broiling pan, so it went into the oven with the broiling pan. The guy from the Apple Store that I spoke with to arrange to purchase a new iPad told me that up to then he thought he had seen everything, but he hadn’t seen this. Always good to be an innovator I say,” her mother revealed.

Another recounted a personal experience, "I had a roommate that just threw dirty pans in the oven so he didn't have to look at them. I found this out by preheating the oven and almost burning the house down."
Adding a touch of humour, a Reddit user quipped, "Mmmmm Apple Pie." In response, someone remarked, "She made that apple crumble."
A user expressed concern, stating, "And this is a classic sign of dementia… My mother-in-law put a stack of silverware in her microwave. And turned it on. Please keep an eye on her."
To which, the woman further added an update in the comments on Reddit, assuring fellow Redditors that despite old age, her mother does not experience dementia.
The update revealed that an Apple technician tried to power up the iPad by connecting it, observing a flicker, but ultimately found severe damage. Fortunately, the woman had AppleCare, which fully covered the mishap. She received a new replacement iPad by covering a $100 deductible.
