Lucknow: A 28-year-old woman died by suicide in Lucknow, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh state, following an alleged domestic dispute, according to Indian media reports.
The incident occurred in the Indira Nagar area, where the woman, identified as Tanu Singh, was found dead inside her home.
Family members said she had long aspired to pursue a career in modelling and was deeply interested in fashion and personal appearance.
Relatives told local media that her ambitions were reportedly discouraged by her husband and in-laws, which had caused emotional distress over time.
On the day of the incident, an argument reportedly followed a remark made by her husband, Rahul Singh, during a family conversation. The comment, described as a joke, allegedly upset her significantly.
Family members said Tanu later went into her room and did not respond for an extended period, prompting concern.
Police were informed, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Authorities said statements from family members have been recorded and further legal action will follow the completion of inquiries.
