Islamabad authorities have announced a substantial hike in vehicle transfer fees, with increases ranging from 300 percent to 1100 percent, effective from today.

As per the new fee structure, the transfer fee for vehicles up to 1000cc has been raised from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,750. For vehicles between 1000cc and 1800cc, the fee has increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,500, while vehicles exceeding 1800cc will now incur a fee of Rs 11,000, up from Rs 3,000.

For the first time, a transfer fee has also been imposed on electric vehicles. Electric cars with up to 50 kW capacity will attract a fee of Rs 2,500, those between 50 kW and 100 kW will be charged Rs 5,500, and electric vehicles exceeding 100 kW will have to pay Rs 10,000.

Motorcycle transfer fees have also been revised. Bikes up to 200cc will now cost Rs 550, up from Rs 150, while the fee for bikes between 200cc and 400cc has been set at Rs 1,000. For motorcycles exceeding 400cc, the fee will be Rs 1,500.
