All public, private schools in Sindh to remain closed on Aug 4

The Sindh government on Friday announced a public holiday for educational institutions across the province on the occasion of the  Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

According to a notification issued by the Sindh School Education Department, all public and private schools will remain closed on Tuesday, August 4, corresponding to 20 Safar 1448 AH, in observance of the Chehlum.

The holiday will apply to all government and private schools across Sindh.

"In the pursuance of decision taken in the meeting of the Steering Committee held on 12-02-2026, all Public and Private Educational Institutions working under the administrative control of School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, shall remain closed on 04th August, 2026 (Tuesday) on account of Chehlum (20th Safar-1448 AH)," read the notification.
