Pakistan joined global celebrations of International Customs Day today, with the theme “Performance, Security, and Progress.”

A ceremony at Customs House Karachi highlighted advancements in customs practices and their contributions to the national economy.

Speaking at the event, Additional Collector Amjad Aman Leghari emphasized the effectiveness of the Faceless Customs System, which ensures swift and efficient clearance of consignments.

Chief Collector Customs noted that this innovative system will positively impact Pakistan’s economy, underscoring its result-oriented design.

Separately, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mehmood Langrial addressed the media, discussing measures to enhance the performance of officials, including the procurement of new vehicles and visits for improved sales tax collection.

Langrial affirmed that revenue collection targets for the fiscal year will be met and urged the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) to implement strategies to control cement prices.

The Chairman also highlighted Karachi's pivotal role in revenue collection, noting that many multinational companies have their headquarters in the city.

Langrial announced plans to install trackers in all FBR vehicles within the next two to three months to enhance operational efficiency.

The day’s celebrations emphasized customs modernization and economic progress, reaffirming the significance of customs in national development.
