The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has increased electricity prices across the country, raising the per-unit tariff by Rs1.79 with effect from 1 January.
Nepra has forwarded the decision to the federal government, and the increase will take effect following government approval.
At present, the average base electricity tariff in the country stands at Rs31.59 per unit.
Meanwhile, Nepra has also announced a reduction of 93 paisa per unit.
In a separate notification, Nepra stated that electricity has been made cheaper by 93 paisa per unit under the fuel price adjustment for November.
