The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has agreed to decrease loadshedding tenure in the province after Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, delivered an ultimatum to the federal government.
After a productive meeting with PESCO officials, a revised schedule has been mutually agreed upon, slashing load shedding hours from 22 to 18, and from 18 to 14.
The Chief Minister had set a deadline for the federal government to tackle the issue, cautioning that he would assume control of the grid station if the problem persisted.
However, following assurances from PESCO, the issue has been successfully addressed, and a revamped schedule is slated for imminent implementation.
Expressing his commitment to collaboration with the federal government in resolving electricity-related challenges, Ali Amin Gandapur underscored the urgent need for immediate relief for the people of KP.
He lambasted the federal government for hiking electricity prices from Rs. 16 to Rs. 65 per unit without ensuring a consistent power supply.
Furthermore, the revised schedule will be closely monitored by Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers throughout the province, with any deviations resulting in FIRs against the responsible Pesco operators.
The KP CM has extended an invitation to the federal energy minister for discussions on electricity-related issues, aiming to chart a course towards a permanent solution to the problem.
