Public support for Donald Trump has dropped to its lowest level since his return to the White House, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos survey. Rising fuel costs and growing opposition to the conflict with Iran appear to be weighing heavily on his approval ratings.
The poll, conducted over four days and completed on Monday, shows that 36 per cent of Americans approve of Trump’s performance in office. That marks a decline from 40 per cent recorded in a similar survey just a week earlier.
Many respondents expressed dissatisfaction with how the president is handling the cost of living. Concerns have intensified as fuel prices climbed following joint military action by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28.
Only 25 per cent of those surveyed said they support Trump’s approach to managing living costs an issue that played a central role in his 2024 election campaign.
The ongoing war with Iran is also shaping public opinion. The survey found that 35 per cent of Americans back the US strikes on Iran, a slight drop from 37 per cent in the previous Reuters/Ipsos poll. The findings suggest that the conflict may be undermining a president who had pledged to steer clear of what he once described as “stupid wars.”
