The death toll from dengue fever in Sindh has risen to 21 this year, while the total number of infected individuals has reached 9,638, according to the Sindh Health Department. Among the reported cases, 4,540 patients belong to Karachi.

As per the latest statistics, nine deaths were recorded in Karachi, while a total of 13 people lost their lives in October due to the mosquito-borne disease. In Karachi, three deaths occurred in Malir, two each in East and West districts, and one in Korangi.

In the same month, four deaths were reported in Hyderabad and one in Tando Muhammad Khan.

Moreover, during the first five days of November, eight more people succumbed to dengue, including six from Hyderabad, and one each from Tando Allahyar and Karachi.

During the past 24 hours, a total of 5,511 dengue tests were conducted across Sindh, out of which 1,130 tested positive. This has raised the total number of confirmed dengue cases in the province this year to 9,638.

In Karachi Division, 3,937 tests were conducted, resulting in 527 positive cases, while Hyderabad Division recorded 603 positive cases from 1,574 tests.

Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Baloch reported that 129 new patients were admitted to government hospitals, and 126 to private hospitals, over the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 96 patients were discharged from public hospitals and 111 from private hospitals after recovery.

One new death was also reported during this period. Currently, 251 patients are admitted in government hospitals and 264 in private facilities across Sindh.

For dengue patients, 979 beds have been allocated in public hospitals across the province — including 256 in Karachi, 165 in Hyderabad, and 558 in other districts.

In private hospitals, 459 beds are available — 185 in Karachi, 208 in Hyderabad, and 66 in other parts of Sindh.

Data is being collected from 54 laboratories across Sindh. Karachi has 37 dengue testing labs (12 public and 25 private), while Hyderabad has 17 labs (7 public and 10 private).

The total number of dengue infections in Sindh this year stands at 9,638.
