Doctors find testicle in woman's abdomen in China

In a bizarre case, a team of doctors was shocked after they found a testicle in the abdomen of a 27-year-old woman in China, South China Morning Post reported.

The rare medical condition was diagnosed by a gynecologist Duan Jie when the woman underwent a medical checkup before her marriage.

According to Jie, the bizarre condition is called congenital adrenal hyperplasia and is found in 1 in 50,000 people.

The publication, quoting doctors, reported that the woman, whose name remains disclosed, has male sex chromosomes but female hormones.

“Socially, Li is female. But chromosomally, she is male,” the doctor said.

The gynecologist suggested an immediate surgery to remove the testicle hidden in the woman's abdomen, "because it posed a high risk of cancer".

According to the publication, she was diagnosed with abnormal hormone levels and potential ovarian failure at the age of 18.

"Due to a lack of early treatment, Li also suffers from osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency," it added.

However, the doctors removed the testicle from the woman's abdomen.
