A woman gave birth to a child in the parking area of Karachi's Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
According to Dawn News, the woman was brought to the hospital for delivery, but due to the closure of the maternity ward, she gave birth to a child in a rickshaw.
Dr. Naseem, an MS doctor at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, mentioned that construction work is ongoing at the hospital, causing our gynecology department to be inactive.
A senior gynecologist, who successfully delivered the woman, told Dawn News that they managed to save two lives with extremely limited resources.
With the maternity ward closed for three to four months, the hospital only provides check-up facilities in the OPD for women.
As a result of the closure, dozens of women from distant areas of the city, dealing with delivery issues every day, have to turn to other hospitals.
This incident of the maternity ward in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital being inactive due to construction work is not the first. A similar incident was reported some time ago, where the Child Emergency staff had to conduct a successful delivery in the hospital parking lot.
