Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan raises $2 million for Gaza

Hollywood star Nicola Coughlan, known for her role as Penelope Featherington in the popular Netflix series "Bridgerton," has raised $2 million for Palestinians in the besieged Gaza enclave through online fundraising efforts.

The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) expressed gratitude to Nicola Coughlan for her contributions in raising funds for Palestinian children and families facing bloodshed, injuries, and starvation.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to actress and 'Bridgerton' star Nicola Coughlan for her extraordinary support of PCRF, raising an astounding $2 million USD to aid our Urgent Gaza Relief and Recovery efforts,” PCRF stated on X.

The actress has been outspoken in her support for Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli military offensive on October 7. She previously raised $1.2 million for Palestinians.

The funds received by PCRF, including donations from Coughlan herself, will be used to provide medical aid and address nutritional needs for Palestinians amidst severe shortages of medical supplies and acute food scarcity.

In addition to her fundraising efforts, Nicola used promotional events for "Bridgerton" to raise awareness about the situation in Rafah, consistently wearing an Artists for Ceasefire pin during public appearances.

In an interview, she disclosed that her father was part of a UN's peacekeeping force in the Middle East and her family lived in Jerusalem in the late 1970s, which makes her feel more connected to the region.

“I’m incredibly fortunate to be pursuing my dream job and traveling the world, but I remain acutely aware of the ongoing crisis in Rafah,” she said during an interview with USA Today.
