Dhurandhar has smashed box office records in India in just 24 days, earning INR 6.9 billion domestically, according to Indian media reports.

The spy thriller has now become the highest-grossing Hindi film in the country.

The film's commercial success has surpassed the previous record-holder Chhaava, which had sparked controversy earlier this year over its depiction of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

Dhurandhar has also overtaken two Shah Rukh Khan-led blockbusters from 2023. Pathaan earned INR 5.43 billion, while Jawan brought in INR 6.4 billion at the Indian box office.

The new thriller’s single-version release has still managed to top both films, highlighting the ongoing appeal of high-octane, patriotic action cinema. The movie marks a major solo theatrical return for Ranveer Singh, who had not led a film in theaters for over two years since Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Co-star Akshaye Khanna is also making headlines. Having appeared in Chhaava, the previous record-holder, Khanna now has two of Hindi cinema’s highest-grossing films in a single year, joining the same elite club as Shah Rukh Khan.

Together, Dhurandhar and Chhaava have earned INR 12.92 billion domestically, surpassing Khan’s combined total from Pathaan and Jawan.
