Bollywood studios and filmmakers are preparing to churn out yet another jingoistic, anti-Pakistan film in the aftermath of the failed Operation Sindoor. According to Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President BN Tiwari, around 15 filmmakers and production houses submitted applications to register Operation Sindoor as a film title with the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA).
The development hardly surprised observers, especially in Pakistan, where many had already predicted a propaganda film would follow.
The Operation Sindoor was India’s military aggression against Pakistani civilians, seemed tailor-made for a cinematic adaptation, with the Indian army and its government’s war hysteria essentially writing the script.
Indian media outlets described war-driven, jingoistic narratives as a favorite genre among domestic audiences, pointing to the commercial success of previous anti-Pakistan films.

In these productions, portraying Pakistan as the villain has become a consistent and profitable formula.
Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios was also rumored to have applied for the film title registration, but the studio publicly denied any such move.
The operation that inspired this latest wave of cinematic nationalism resulted in the martyrdom of at least 31 innocent civilians and injuries to 57 others in a series of overnight Indian airstrikes on May 6 and 7.

The unprovoked strikes targeted densely populated civilian areas in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bagh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, and Shakargarh. Several mosques and homes were destroyed in the cowardly attacks on non-military targets.
In response, Pakistan’s armed forces launched precision retaliatory strikes, downing five Indian aircraft, including three Rafale jets, and destroying several Indian military check posts and a brigade headquarters in occupied Kashmir.
