Former actor Zainab Jamil seriously injured in 'targeted attack' in Lahore

Former model and actress Zainab Jamil was shot multiple times in Lahore's Defence Housing Autority (DHA) by two unidentified assailants while she was sitting in her car outside her salon.

Zaina sustained critical injuries after being shot six times on Wednesday. As she regained consciousness after treatment, she revealed that she had been receiving threatening phone calls for several days.

She alleged her husband was behind the assassination attempt. Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) for the incident and have begun searching for the suspect.

“A threatening letter was also sent to the salon. I don't know the identities of the attackers, but it seems they were already following me.. The Chief Minister should help get them arrested,” she said.

CCTV footage showed Zainab sitting in her car for several minutes. Two assailants then arrived on a motorbike, opened her car door, and fired shots at her.

Police registered a case based on the complaint filed by Zainab's uncle against the two accused who shot her.

According to sources, Zainab has raised suspicions about her husband, as the couple have been experiencing disagreements for the past two years.

Police said that an investigation is underway and they are actively searching for the suspect.

Jamil has starred in several dramas, including Sada Sukhi Raho, Susral Meri Bahen Ka, and Manchli. In 2020, Zainab announced she was quitting showbiz to focus on living a life aligned with Islamic teachings.
