Fresh CCTV footage and forensic findings have provided new clues in the investigation into the death of 25-year-old Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali.

According to the latest details, CCTV footage reportedly showed a nursery employee discovering Ali’s body at around 11:52am on July 29 and alerting police.

Two motorcycle-riding policemen and a police mobile subsequently reached the scene. An Edhi ambulance arrived at 12:50pm and left with the body at 1:46pm.

The Crime Scene Unit, however, reportedly did not reach the location that day, raising questions over the collection and preservation of forensic evidence.

Investigators also reviewed footage from July 28, when Ali was reported missing. A camera near a wedding hall reportedly recorded a gunshot at 4:37am, after which a security guard searched the area. Further footage then showed Ali walking nearby.

Following the exhumation and second post-mortem, forensic samples were sent for analysis. Investigators recovered a spent cartridge casing from the crime scene during a later search operation.

The new medical examination found multiple injuries and confirmed that Ali had been shot in the back. Samples were also collected for gunshot-residue testing and chemical analysis.

Reports that GSR was detected on both of Ali’s hands have led investigators to examine the possibility that he may have fired a weapon, potentially in self-defence. However, this remains an investigative theory and has not been established as the cause or circumstances of his death.
