Renowned Pakistani actor, Hamza Ali Abbasi, opened up about his personal journey towards understanding and practicing Islam.
In a recent podcast, while discussing his religious beliefs, Abbasi explained that he considers himself a "conscious Muslim" rather than simply a "born Muslim," highlighting the importance of choosing and practicing one's faith with awareness and intention.
Abbasi, who rose to fame through his roles in popular Pakistani dramas and films, shared that his spiritual path was shaped by a deep intellectual curiosity about the world, life, and the afterlife.
He mentioned that, although he was born into a Muslim family, his embrace of Islam was a result of his own conscious decision to explore and understand its teachings, rather than merely following the religion he was born into.
In the podcast, Abbasi reflected on his exploration of multiple religions before fully embracing Islam. He noted that after studying various faiths, he found Islam to be the most logical and spiritually fulfilling.
While admitting that he is not a religious scholar, Abbasi explained that his practice of Islam is based on the aspects of the religion that he believes to be intellectually sound and spiritually enriching.
Being born into a Muslim family doesn’t make you a true Muslim, Abbasi said. It’s about consciously following the teachings of Islam, understanding its principles, and making it a part of your life.
