CCTV footage of a dumper truck running over a motorcycle on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road, resulting in the deaths of two siblings, has surfaced.
According to the initial police report, the motorcycle appeared to skid after possibly grazing a passing vehicle. Light drizzle had made the road slippery, causing the siblings to lose balance and fall.
A high-speed, empty dumper coming from behind failed to brake in time, running over them.
The police noted that the dumper was travelling on the fast lane at the time of the accident.
The video evidence has also contradicted the statement made by the Chairman of the Dumpers Association Haji Liaquat Mehsud, who had blamed a water tanker for the incident.
A case has been registered at Yousuf Plaza Police Station under the section of culpable homicide.

Police confirmed that the dumper driver has been arrested. According to the complainant, his niece and nephew died in the crash, while their father sustained injuries.
Following the accident, angered citizens set fire to seven dumpers. The driver responsible was apprehended by the crowd and handed over to the police.
Law enforcement also detained 10 individuals on charges of arson.
In retaliation, transporters staged a protest on Sunday, blocking the road at Sohrab Goth on the Superhighway by parking dumpers and trailers. The blockade brought traffic to a standstill, causing long queues of vehicles.
