US singer Madonna has landed in hot water as the fans filed a lawsuit against her for starting a concert over two hours late in New York last month.
"We would not have paid for tickets if we had been informed about the delay," many fans said.
They stated that the show was meant to start at 20:30 EST on all three nights, but in each case, it did not begin until after 22:30, ending around 01:00.
The complaint filed by Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden asserted that "many ticketholders who attended concerts on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of their family responsibilities the next day."
Mr Fellows and Mr Hadden attended the concert on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. However, legal documents also highlight that on other nights at the same venue, on December 14 and 16, the concerts also started more than two hours behind schedule.
"Defendants failed to provide any notice to the ticketholders that the concerts would start much later than the start time printed on the ticket and as advertised, which resulted in the ticketholders waiting for hours," the document stated.
The petitioners have also taken legal action against promoter Live Nation and venue the Barclays Center, accusing them of "false advertising, negligent representation, and unfair trade practices."
As per the court documents, the renowned US artist has a track record of delaying her concerts.
Previous instances also include legal issues with fans during her 2016 Rebel Heart Tour, the 2019-2020 Madame X Tour, and earlier tours, where Madonna consistently began performances more than two hours behind schedule.
