Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo has described US President Donald Trump as the “worst human being in the world”, delivering a scathing rebuke during a high-profile red carpet appearance.
Ruffalo, who has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in the HBO drama Task, attended the event wearing a “Be Good” pin in memory of 37-year-old Reneé Nicole Gadd, who was recently killed in an incident involving US immigration authorities.
Speaking to the media, the actor said he was in no mood to celebrate, adding that recent developments in the United States could no longer be considered normal.
He voiced strong opposition to President Trump, criticising both US foreign policy and what he described as violations of international law.
Ruffalo explained that the pin was worn in solidarity with Reneé Gadd and with all those who are currently living in fear and anxiety across the United States.
While stressing his love for his country, he said the prevailing situation did not reflect the values traditionally associated with America.
Several other prominent actors at the ceremony were also seen wearing “Be Good” or “ICE Out” pins, joining the protest in a show of collective dissent.
