Maulana Tariq Jamil played a matchmaker's role in my marriage, reveals Sana Khan

Former Indian actress Sana Khan, who left Bollywood for Islam in 2020, has revealed the surprising role Pakistani scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil played in her marriage to Mufti Anas Sayed.

Sana recently appeared on Indian actress Rubina Dilaik's podcast, where she shared intimate details of her personal life, marriage, and relationship with her husband.

When asked about their union, Sana Khan recounted that the renowned cleric played a matchmaker's role in her marriage to Mr Anas.

"Before marriage, I received a voice note from Maulana Tariq Jamil through Mufti Anas, saying, 'Consider marriage, and if you permit, we can arrange a relationship or propose Mufti Anas as a suitable partner."

Sana Khan noted that Mufti Anas didn't directly propose to avoid potential misunderstandings that "a bearded man has feelings for a woman".

However, Mufti Anas forwarded the preacher's message to Sana, a soft tactic to propose to her.

"After hearing Maulana Sahib's message, I told him [Anas] are you crazy, Where am I, and where are you?" she said humorously.

When Sana Khan expressed reservations due to their seven-year age difference, Mufti Anas referenced the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) first marriage to Hazrat Khadija (RA), who was 15 years older than the Holy Messenger.

"He [Anas] was like we would fulfill the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) too," she explained.

Sana Khan, who bid farewell to Bollywood in 2020 and married Mufti Anas in 2021, now lives a happy life with her husband in India.

The couple welcomed a son, Tariq Jamil, last year, named after the influential cleric who inadvertently brought them together.
