Pakistan's Siri Paye, a flavorful stew made with trotters, meat, and a blend of spices, ranked 47th among the world's finest stews by Taste Atlas. This dish is popular for its rich taste and slow-cooked tenderness.
Prepared using cow, goat, or buffalo meat, infused with a blend of local spices, and a thin gravy, Siri Paye, which translates to 'head to toe,' holds a cherished place in the hearts of many.
This stew undergoes slow cooking overnight, allowing the bones and skull to thoroughly cook and be ready by morning.
Ideal for breakfast, Siri Paye pairs perfectly with soft naans or parathas, making it a popular delicacy for grand family gatherings.
The dish's origins lie in the fusion of Central Asian and South Asian cuisines, earning it popularity not only in Pakistan but also in India and Bangladesh.
Interestingly, the list also features Keema, ranked sixth, as an Indian cuisine, alongside Korma and Dal Tadka, securing the 22nd and 50th positions respectively. India boasts four other dishes on the list, including Shahi Paneer, Chingri Malai Curry, Misal, Vandaloo, and Saag Paneer.
This is not the first time Pakistani cuisine has received recognition on Taste Atlas, the ultimate destination for authentic recipes and cuisine recommendations.
Karachi's Zahid Nihari claimed the 84th spot on TasteAtlas' "100 Most Legendary Restaurants in the World" list in April 2024.
