Police say Humaira Asghar may have died naturally, probe still underway

The investigation into the death of actress Humaira Asghar has yet to yield a breakthrough that could determine the cause of her death. However, according to DIG South Asad Raza, preliminary findings suggest she may have died of natural causes.

He added that the investigation remains ongoing and includes questioning of her domestic staff and building administration.

Humaira often expressed themes of loneliness in her paintings. This, some DIG South suggest, may reflect personal struggles, despite her otherwise active lifestyle, she regularly went to the gym and appeared to have a positive outlook on life.

According to reports, she did her laundry on the day of her death. The last activity on her phone was recorded on October 7, 2024. After that, her phone remained unanswered for three days before switching off due to a dead battery.

Call records show that the final incoming calls were from a building guard and one of her friends. No further activity or correspondence was recorded on her device after that.

When police arrived at her flat, both entry doors were locked from the inside, prompting officers to break in.

Her body was found lying in a position that suggested no immediate signs of foul play, adding weight to the possibility of a natural death. Still, authorities are continuing to investigate all angles, including those who had recent contact with her.

As per reports, Humaira had been in a dispute with her landlord since 2019 over her refusal to accept rent increases and delays in payment.

Officials believe the odor from her decomposing body may have escaped through a small outward-facing window in her bathroom.
