Controversial figure and self-claimed religious scholar, Sahil Adeem, once again landed in hot waters after he made derogatory comments about women, who represent 50 percent population of the country.

The insensitive remarks from the cleric came during a private news channel's show Mukalma, in which renowned writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and Sahil Adeem were invited as guests to discuss women rights and human rights.

During the show, Sahil asked the public to research on basic knowledge between men and women by taking a sample of 100 of both genders each.

"You will find 25 men out of 100 illiterate, fifty men would be 50-50 [neither educated nor illiterate] and 25 would be educated. It's a sample you can check from anywhere in Pakistan," he said.

"[...] And you will find 95 percent women out of 100 illiterate," he added.

At this, the host, Ayesha Jahanzeb, tried to stop Sahil but he continued with his stance.

As the video clip of the statement went viral on social media, the netizens condemned the statement and demanded Sahil to apologise to the women of the country.
