The bodies found near Karachi’s Clifton China Port have been identified as a married couple, Sajid and Sana Asif. Sajid Masih reportedly embraced Islam on July 20, the same day he and Sana were married.

Police have recovered their marriage certificate, confirming the two tied the knot through a court marriage on July 20. A police team from Karachi has arrested four suspects, including the girl’s brother, from Gujranwala.

According to reports, the investigation into the double murder has seen significant progress. The couple, originally from Gujranwala, had recently moved to Karachi and lived in various localities.

The marriage certificate states Sajid was 28 years old, while Sana was 25.

DIG South Asad Raza stated that the couple was deliberately targeted. Both were shot in the back of the head, and a mobile phone, without a SIM card, was found at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, Sajid’s grieving parents arrived in Karachi and were seen devastated outside the Boat Basin police station.

Sajid's father provided police with his son's nikahnama and conversion certificate.

He also revealed that Sana's family had burned his home after the couple eloped, prompting him to leave Gujranwala on July 14.

Police suspect two individuals were involved in the murder, as two different types of bullet casings were found at the crime scene, one from a 9mm pistol and another from a 30-bore pistol.

The couple had married out of choice, and their bullet-riddled bodies were discovered a day earlier near China Port in Karachi’s Clifton area. Police suspect the murders may be linked to honour-based motives.
