Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the highest-grossing opening weekend release in North American box office history after earning an estimated $360 million from cinemas in the United States and Canada, according to media reports.
The updated figures pushed the film past the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame, which opened with $357 million in 2019.
Earlier estimates suggested that Tom Holland's fourth standalone Spider-Man movie had narrowly fallen short of Endgame's opening weekend record.
However, revised box office numbers increased the film's total from an initial $335 million to a record-breaking $360 million.
With the latest figures, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Endgame are the only two films ever to earn more than $300 million during a single opening weekend in North America.
