Pakistani actor and director Usman Mukhtar has revealed that he chooses to work only on projects based in Islamabad to stay close to his mother, who is suffering from dementia.

During a recent Instagram Q&A session, the Sabaat actor responded to a fan asking why he avoids taking up projects in other cities. Mukhtar explained that his decision stems from family responsibilities.

“Because my mother lives here, and she has dementia. She’s bedridden and needs constant supervision. Since dramas often take several months to shoot, I don’t think it’s wise for me to be away from her for that long,” he shared in his Instagram story.

Mukhtar, known for his performances in Anaa, Sabaat, Jafaa, and the currently airing Pamaal opposite Saba Qamar, has consistently chosen projects filmed in Islamabad.

Despite growing offers from major entertainment hubs like Karachi and Lahore, the actor continues to prioritise his family commitments over professional expansion.

Mukhtar frequently shares glimpses of his bond with his mother on social media, posting heartfelt tributes on occasions such as Mother’s Day, Eid, and her birthday. His followers have long admired his devotion, which now offers deeper insight into his professional choices.
