Renowned actor Zahid Ahmed criticized the growing culture of online content creation, calling it “one of humanity’s most evil and destructive inventions.”

Zahid Ahmed, known for his performances in dramas such as Hamraz and Zara Yaad Kar, has found himself at the center of controversy after his recent remarks about social media creators in a podcast went viral.

In his statement, Zahid said, “I hate it. I think it’s the human being’s most evil and destructive invention. All these creators belong in hell.”

According to the Ishq Zahe Naseeb actor, “Muslims should be living a humble life, as Islam teaches us to pass through this world like strangers, with humility and modesty, to think less of ourselves and more of Allah.”

He further criticized the new trends on social media saying, “But this culture is the complete opposite. It’s about more of me, self-projection, my life, my followers, and my comparisons, its self exposure and immodesty.”

“I prioritise five times prayer whether I am on set or anywhere else:” Zahid Ahmed

His strong remarks sparked outrage among digital influencers and TikTok creators, many of whom called out the actor for being ‘judgmental’ and ‘hypocritical.‘

TikToker Zarnab Fatima, posted a video in response, saying, “My question is, are we even allowed to pray now? Because according to you, we are all going to hell. It would’ve been better if you had informed us earlier since you seem to have a pass to heaven. Maybe you should also stop praying then, and when it comes to the rights of others, I guess that doesn’t matter either.”

Another digital creator, Alishba, shared a story featuring a picture of Zahid Ahmed with his Dil Dhoondta Hai Phir Wohi co-star Zara Noor Abbas, with the caption, “Talking about Islam with arms around someone else’s wife.”

Meanwhile, influencer Ken Doll added his perspective, stating, “If actors do the same thing, it becomes a piece of art. But if digital creators do it, they’re called people of hell.”

Many social media influencers shared Ken’s video on their stories and appreciated him.

As of now, Zahid Ahmed has not issued any clarification or apology regarding his comments. The debate continues to divide social media, with some supporting the actor’s criticism of online vanity, while others accuse him of hypocrisy and moral superiority.
