Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat clarified that it was Imran Khan’s decision to march to D-Chowk, but he had given the party the discretion to alter the plan based on circumstances.
Marwat revealed that Khan had entrusted the leadership of the march to Ali Amin Gandapur. The PTI founder also rejected to lead the protest towards Sangjani instead of D Chowk.
In a recent interview, Marwat denied reports claiming that Bushra Bibi had insisted on the D-Chowk route or argued with CM Gandapur over the decision.
He disclosed that when Barrister Gohar visited Imran Khan in Adiala Jail to discuss the government’s suggestion to march towards Sangjani, Khan refused but left the final decision to party leadership.
Marwat asserted that there was a lack of guidance and control over party workers, some of whom had already reached D Chowk ahead of the leadership.
CM Gandapur was reluctant to march to D Chowk given the increasingly tense situation during the protest, he added.
He also alleged that Bushra Bibi’s car was fired upon and pursued by security forces as she traveled back to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with CM Gandapur.
Marwat claimed that there was an attempted kidnapping of Bushra Bibi and Gandapur on their way to Mansehra, but they escaped due to intervention by their security guards.
