Pakistan welcomes response of Hamas to Trump’s Gaza peace plan

Pakistan has welcomed Hamas’ response to the Gaza peace plan announced by US President Donald Trump, describing it as an important opportunity to achieve lasting peace in the region.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Islamabad said the development provides a chance to secure an immediate ceasefire, end the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians in Gaza, facilitate the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners, ensure unhindered humanitarian access, and pave the way for a credible political process toward sustainable peace.

The statement called on Israel to immediately cease its attacks and expressed appreciation for President Trump’s efforts to advance peace in Gaza.

It added that Pakistan hopes these initiatives will lead to a durable ceasefire and a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace.

Reaffirming its principled support for the Palestinian cause, Pakistan reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for self-determination and statehood.

The statement underscored Pakistan’s consistent stance in favor of establishing an independent, viable, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
