A 12-year-old boy was killed and two others were injured in a clash between the workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in the New Karachi area.
The incident took place in the New Karachi, Sector 11-J area Friday night when MQM-P allegedly tore the posters of PPP.
However, MQM-P leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan claimed that the posters were torn by the PPP workers.
Following this, the political workers clashed and attacked each other with sticks and iron rods, where some miscreants opened fire, resulting in the death of a young boy.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Abdul Rehman and the injured were 16-year-old Shumail and 40-year-old Ashraf.
Rehman's death was caused by a bullet, which pierced through his head, whereas Shumail received a bullet wound in his leg and Ashraf was beaten with a stick, police said.
A PPP worker, named Yousaf, has lodged a first information report (FIR) against 15 unidentified persons including three MQM-P workers under charges of terrorism and attempted murder.
In a similar incident on January 29, an MQM-P worker, identified as 48-year-old Faraz, was killed during a clash between the two leading parties of Karachi.
