The Men’s Asia Cup 2025 is facing uncertainty as the tournament is likely to be moved from India, local media reported Thursday.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is considering scheduling the T20-format tournament in mid-September, featuring 19 matches. The event could see arch-rivals India and Pakistan facing off up to three times.
Originally allocated to India, the tournament's hosting is now under review due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. The ACC is reportedly exploring neutral venues, with Sri Lanka and the UAE emerging as top alternatives.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains the designated host, a recent ACC ruling mandates that whenever the BCCI or Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is assigned to host, the tournament should be played at a neutral location to avoid conflicts.

Eight teams—India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong—will compete.
Weather conditions in September could pose challenges, but the T20 format allows for evening scheduling to mitigate heat concerns.
