Banks to remain closed on Thursday

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has declared May 1, 2025 (Thursday), a bank holiday in observance of Labour Day.
According to a brief notification issued by the central bank, the Government of Pakistan has declared May 1 a public holiday. Consequently, the SBP will remain closed on the day, along with all banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks (MFBs), which will also suspend public dealings.
In addition to financial institutions, educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, will also remain closed on May 1.
Labour Day, also known as May Day, is observed internationally on May 1 each year to honour the contributions and rights of the working class.

The day serves as a reminder of the importance of job protection and fair treatment for labourers and industrial workers.
