Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan Tuesday announced moving the Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the unannounced decision to suspend "X" in Pakistan.
Pakistani users have been unable to access the microblogging site for over 60 hours, which was reportedly down amidst reports of 'election fraud'.
On Saturday, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chattha resigned from his post in protest against electoral irregularities, saying rigging took place under his supervision.
"We were forced to convert losers into winners with 70,000-80,000 votes margin by stamping fake ballot papers. I've done injustice to the people of Rawalpindi," he said while talking to media at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Following the startling revelations, netizens took to the microblogging site to express their disapproval, demanding a fair investigation into the allegations.
Reportedly the backlash from netizens to ECP and the caretaker government has prompted authorities to ban the social media site.
However, the PTI leader has decided to challenge the disruption in the federal capital's court.
In a post on X, Ali Muhammad said he is going to challenge this "dictatorial act of the fascist government as a lawyer in the Islamabad High Court."
"This dictatorship is not acceptable. Freedom of expression is a basic human right and in today's modern age, these last-century tactics of dictatorship will not work," he added.
"Shutting down the internet, X, TV channels or suppressing the truth is not a solution to the problems, the people's mandate will have to be returned to the people, the people will speak the truth, let the truth come out," he concluded his post.
