A judicial magistrate in Karachi has granted bail to 24 workers and leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf who were arrested over a protest near the Karachi Press Club against rising fuel prices linked to the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran.

The arrests were made after clashes broke out between PTI supporters and police during the demonstration on Sunday.

The Judicial Magistrate (south) approved bail for the 24 individuals on surety bonds of Rs5,000 each, according to the order.

However, an anti-terrorism court sent four PTI leaders — Alamgir Khan, Meeraj, Khalid Mehmood and Daawa Khan — to prison on judicial remand in a 2025 case related to alleged rioting during a rally at Banaras Chowk.

PTI lawyer Shujaat Ali Khan said that the four leaders were re-arrested and linked to the earlier case registered at Peerabad police station.

The police had sought their physical remand, but the court declined and instead ordered judicial remand after hearing arguments from the defence.
