The Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP), comprising several political parties, held a protest outside the Supreme Court against the 27th Constitutional Amendment, with the TTAP chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai calling for the removal of the ruling government and urging nationwide protests after Friday prayers this week.
Achakzai called on political and religious parties to declare the current government “un-Islamic, undemocratic, and unconstitutional” after Friday prayers, saying, “We will not abuse anyone, but with the power of the common people, we will send this government home through democratic means and create a truly democratic Pakistan.”
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, and other political leaders gathered and held placards carrying slogans against placing the judiciary under executive influence.
TTAP also called for observing a black day on Friday against the 27th Amendment and vowed to continue its movement against the government.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai announced that a national conference against the 27th Amendment would be held and invited lawyers, scholars, experts, judges, and journalists to participate.
Former KP Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said the national conference would take place next week, stating, “We will continue a peaceful movement against the 27th Amendment.”
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas maintained that the judgment violates fundamental rights and the spirit of the Constitution, adding that it jeopardises citizens’ access to justice.
