Aleema Khan, sister of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, on Monday dismissed social media reports claiming that a former army chief had met the jailed PTI leader at Adiala Jail, calling the reports “totally fake.”
In a statement posted on X, Aleema said the claims circulating online were false and had also been verified with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who similarly rejected the reports.
The denial comes after widespread speculation on social media regarding an alleged meeting between Imran Khan and a former military chief inside Adiala Jail.
Aleema alleged that the rumors were being spread to divert attention from concerns over her brother’s detention conditions. She claimed that Imran Khan remains under severe restrictions, including limited contact with family members and restricted access to reading material and outside communication. She also raised concerns about his medical treatment, particularly regarding an eye condition.
The PTI leader has been incarcerated at Adiala Jail since 2023 and is serving sentences in multiple cases. Court-ordered meetings between Imran Khan, his family, lawyers and party representatives have been the subject of repeated disputes, with PTI leaders alleging that scheduled visits have often been denied despite judicial directives.
Authorities have previously maintained that prison matters are handled according to jail regulations. No official statement has been issued regarding the latest social media claims about the alleged meeting.
The reports of a meeting with a former army chief remain unsubstantiated and have been publicly denied by both Aleema Khan and PTI leadership.
