Founder Muttahida Qaumi Movement (London), Altaf Hussain, condemned armed forces and authorities’ action towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protesting convoys in Islamabad and described the use of firearms on defenceless demonstrators as ‘unconstitutional’.
In a post, he shared on X, Altaf Hussain referenced the constitution of Pakistan that gives a right to peaceful protests and rallies to all citizens, but “the police and security forces fired at the participants of the PTI peaceful protest in Islamabad and used force against them.”
“The way they have been shot at and shelled is unacceptable,” said the MQM-London founder, who believed the matter could not be solved by using force against the public, but it would prompt hatred among the people.
Altaf Hussain advised government and military leadership that the matter should be resolved through negotiation and talks instead of using force.
He extended condolence towards families of people who lost their lives in the clashes between armed forces and protesters in Islamabad and prayed for quick recovery of the injured.
Earlier, the PTI spokesperson said that peaceful protesters were fired upon on the streets of Islamabad, and hundreds of innocent Pakistanis were injured and bathed in blood.
