Karachi’s first ambulance lane has been made operational by the district administration. An anti-encroachment operation was carried out on Main Field Street in Saddar, as well as in other areas of the port city. As a result, Karachi's first-ever dedicated ambulance lane has been established.
The encroachment operations began in October to remove illegal setups and clear public lands and footpaths. An operation also took place at Main Field Street in Saddar, considered one of the most congested areas where ambulances often get stuck due to heavy traffic.
Javed Khoso, Deputy Commissioner of Karachi’s South District, confirmed that the operation removed obstacles that were the main cause of road blockages.
He added that the top priority is to ensure immediate emergency response. The purpose of creating this separate lane is to protect lives and ensure patients reach hospitals on time. Khoso also stated that similar lanes will be developed in other areas in the future.
