Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Syeda Sheharbano Naqvi has been appointed as Personal Security Officer to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The notification for the appointment was issued by the Ministry of Interior on May 27.

Earlier, the BS-17 officer was serving as Assistance District Officer Frontier Constabulary (ADOFC) Islamabad.

Previously, she had also worked as Assistant Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

Naqvi rose to fame when she rescued a woman from being lynched by a mob in Lahore's Icchra Bazar in February.

The woman was surrounded and harassed by an angry crowd that wanted to punish her for allegedly wearing a dress with Arabic calligraphy.

However, it was later revealed that the dress was from a renowned Arabic clothing brand and the text printed on the dress was spelled “Halwa” in Arabic, which means “sweet”.

Naqvi, along with her team, risked her life and save the woman from a charged mob.
