At least ten people, including police and Levies personnel, were killed in militant attack in Balochistan’s Kalat on Monday, said a police official.
Kalat Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dostin Dashti said a sub-inspector, four levies personnel, and five citizens were killed in the terrorist attacks.
He further said that the assailants fled to the neighbourhood after killing the victims.
“The police have launched a clearance operation in the various areas of Kalat,” he added.
“An exchange of deadly fire between police and armed men continued since last night on Kalat’s national highway and residential area,” said SSP.
According to Assistant Commissioner Aftab Ahmed, a Levies officer was also wounded in the firing, and was shifted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Kalat’s Commissioner informed the media the condition of the injured officer was out of danger.
Security sources said terrorist attacks have been made at multiple sites in the province during the nights of August 24 and 25, which prompted forces and law enforcement agencies to retaliate.
As many as 12 terrorists were gunned down in retaliation from security forces, while several were injured.
The officials said the combat operation between LEAs and terrorists has been in progress for 24 hours and would continue until they eliminate the terrorists.
