An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has initiated proceedings to declare the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa an absconder after he failed to comply with court orders, officials said on Wednesday.
Following the court’s directives, notices were pasted at various locations, including the Judicial Complex and anti-terrorism courts, to ensure public awareness of the proceedings.
The notices instruct Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, along with Meena Khan, Amjad Khan, Shafiullah Jan and Amjad Afridi, to appear before the court.
According to the notices, the accused have either failed to comply with judicial orders or are believed to be in hiding. The court warned that strict legal action would be taken if they do not present themselves before the ATC within the stipulated time.
The proclamation process is part of legal measures undertaken when accused individuals repeatedly fail to appear despite summons and warrants. Court officials said the action aims to compel the accused to attend proceedings and face the charges brought against them.
No immediate response was available from the Chief Minister’s office or the other individuals named in the notices.
