An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued warrants for the arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in connection with the October 4 protest case linked to the killing of a police officer.

The court, headed by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, also declared former opposition leader Omar Ayub, Amir Mughal, Hafeez-ur-Rehman and several other accused as proclaimed offenders after they repeatedly failed to appear despite court summons.

During the hearing, Azam Swati appeared before the court, while the prosecution recorded the statement of another witness. Proceedings against Swati continued.

After hearing the case, the court adjourned further proceedings until June 22.

The case was registered at Noon Police Station and relates to a protest held in Islamabad on October 4, during which a police officer was reportedly killed.
