Renowned Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik revealed a surprising aspect of his childhood during his visit to Lahore.
Addressing a function in the provincial capital, the cleric shared that he once struggled with stuttering, but overcame it when he started speaking on stage for Tableegh-e-Islam.
"I used to stutter as a child," Dr Naik recalled. "If someone asked me my name in my childhood, I could not even say my name because of my stuttering."
He had ambitions to become the world's greatest surgeon, but stuttering hindered his public speaking abilities until age 25.
However, the esteemed preacher discovered that his stuttering miraculously disappeared when he began preaching on stage.
"When I came on the sage to preach Daw'a, my stuttering stopped," he explained.
"And after the speech, I started stuttering every time I went down from the stage."
The 58-year-old orator observed a similar pattern in interactions with non-Muslims, where his stuttering would dissipate.
"This is a miracle of Allah for me, who heard my prayer," he gratefully acknowledged.
Dr Zakir attributed his extensive knowledge of religion to Allah, who granted him opportunities to learn from fellow scholars from a young age.
Dr Naik is currently in Pakistan for a month-long visit, which began on September 30.
