Bank operations manager turns out to be mastermind behind Rs53.7m ATM theft in Karachi

The mystery surrounding the theft of Rs53.7 million from an ATM of a private bank in Karachi has been solved, with police arresting the bank's operations manager and his alleged accomplice.

According to the police, the bank's operations manager, identified as Arslan, allegedly masterminded the theft and carried it out with the help of his accomplice, Rehan.

The suspect allegedly wore a burqa and a mask while entering the ATM booth to steal the money. He also covered the CCTV camera with chewing gum in an attempt to avoid identification.

However, the disguise and attempt to obstruct the camera failed to prevent the suspects from being traced. The Arambagh police arrested both suspects within 24 hours of the incident.

The police said the suspects were traced with the help of technical investigation, human intelligence and CCTV footage.

Following the arrest of Arslan, police also arrested his alleged accomplice Rehan and recovered Rs29.74 million from the suspects, according to the police.
