The body of a 23-year-old man, who drowned while swimming at Sandspit Beach, has been recovered from the sea near Manora, police said on Sunday.

According to officials, the body was found in the waters behind the Manora graveyard within the jurisdiction of the Mauripur police station. It was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for legal formalities.

The deceased was identified as Aamir, son of Ramzan, a resident of Lyari’s Agra Taj Colony.

The police said the deceased had visited Sandspit a day earlier with his family for a picnic when he drowned while swimming in the sea. “The family reported the incident to police late last night,” he said.

Rescue workers from the Edhi Foundation recovered the body from the sea on Sunday morning after a search operation.

Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution while entering the sea, particularly at beaches where currents can be unpredictable.
