China lauds Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach, mediation role in facilitating Iran-US MoU

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation on Thursday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during which the two sides welcomed the understandings reached in the Iran–US Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing it as an important step towards promoting sustainable peace and stability in the region.
According to an official statement, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi appreciated Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic outreach and “robust mediation efforts,” saying these helped create conducive conditions for sustained engagement between Iran and the United States. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution to advancing international peace and stability.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, in response, lauded China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate dialogue and diplomacy between Iran and the United States. He also acknowledged Beijing’s contributions to regional peace and stability, particularly President Xi Jinping’s Four-Point Proposal and the Pakistan–China Five-Point Initiative.
Both leaders underscored the importance of implementing the understandings reached between the parties and maintaining continued engagement for the peaceful settlement of outstanding issues. They also highlighted the significance of opening the Strait of Hormuz for the global economy, energy security, and international trade.
The two sides also discussed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China and agreed to ensure robust follow-up on its outcomes. Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of advancing cooperation under CPEC 2.0 and further strengthening bilateral economic and investment ties.
Both foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest.
