In a heartwarming gesture, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken the task of bearing the educational expenses of a talented girl, who lost both arms due to electrocution at the age of 4.
Mehwish's incredible story caught the attention of Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, who announced the scholarship to support her further education on behalf of CM Maryam.
During their meeting, Mehwish presented the Minister with stunning paintings created with her feet, showcasing her exceptional talent and resilience.
Mr Hayat praised Mehwish's courage after receiving the precious gift from the differently-abled girl.
"It is our responsibility to mentor and encourage students like Mehwish Aziz," he added.
The Education Minister also presented Mehwish with a cash prize of Rs50,000 from his own pocket.
The provincial minister announced that Mehwish would receive a government job and a 3-marla plot as a gift.
The scholarship is part of CM Maryam's broader initiatives to empower Punjab's youth, including the 'Honahar Merit Scholarship Program', which aims to provide 25,000 scholarships to deserving students.
Other recent initiatives launched by Nawaz Sharif's daughter for students include the CM Punjab Skill Development Program 2024, free WiFi and distribution of laptops for students, and paid internships.
