Karachi continued to experience cold weather on Tuesday as icy winds blowing from Balochistan kept temperatures low across the city, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The minimum temperature in the port city was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius, marking one of the coldest mornings of the ongoing winter season. Residents reported chilly conditions, particularly during the early hours of the day, due to cold and dry winds.

However, the PMD’s Early Warning Centre forecast a gradual rise in overall temperatures from Wednesday onwards. The improvement in weather conditions is expected as the prevailing cold winds from northeastern Balochistan begin to weaken and stabilise.

Meteorologists said that during the early part of the day, winds may continue to blow from the Quetta side, while later in the day, sea breezes from the southwest are likely to resume. This change in wind direction is expected to moderate temperatures in the city over the coming days
