In a significant development in the Toshakhana case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, a special court on Monday issued summons to two army officers for testimony in the high-profile trial.

Presiding over the proceedings at Adiala Jail, Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand concluded the cross-examination of two key prosecution witnesses during a session that stretched over six hours.

The witnesses included Sohaib Abbasi, a private appraiser and approver in the case, and Inam Shah, the former principal secretary to the ex-premier. Both were subject to detailed questioning by the defence team.

Abbasi, who had earlier filed an affidavit in the case, and Shah were both interrogated on matters related to the alleged misdeclaration and retention of a luxurious Bulgari jewellery set from state gifts, which lies at the heart of the controversy.

Following the completion of their cross-examination, the court directed Brigadier Muhammad Ahmed, the former military secretary to the prime minister, and Colonel Rehan, who served as deputy military secretary, to appear at the next hearing to provide their testimonies.
